Young painters and tilers compete in South Tyrol, Italy

The FieraMesse Exhibition Centre in Bolzano is the venue for Painting and Decorating and Wall and Floor Tiling.

In a display of colours and precision, the best young painters and tilers are competing in Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, Italy. From 3 to 6 November, the skill competitions of Painting and Decorating, and Wall and Floor Tiling are taking place in FieraMesse Exhibition Centre alongside Bolzano’s Autumn Fair.

This year’s fair is all about well-being, a place for visitors to discover ideas and products to enhance well-being in all aspects of their life. The exhibition centre will gather businesses and organizations related to food, lifestyle, leisure, travel, and local crafts.

This is the first time WorldSkills South Tyrol, Italy has hosted an international skills championship. The region has been a member of WorldSkills since 1995.

“This is a great opportunity for South Tyrol. The preparations have been going on for some time and we are looking forward to welcoming 13 Competitors in each competition,” explained Thomas Pardeller, Technical Delegate of WorldSkills South Tyrol, Italy.

Competitors will represent Austria, Colombia, Germany, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, China, Hungary, India, Japan, Korea, South Tyrol, Italy, Kazakhstan, Namibia, Chinese Taipei, United Kingdom, and United Arab Emirates.

The provincial chair of the young craftsmen in the lvh, Alexander Dallio, spoke about the intrinsic role WorldSkills has in South Tyrol’s vocational training and education environment.

“Just the experience of having taken part in such a competition is one of the best schools of learning – privately and professionally. In addition, the South Tyrolean winners and participants are role models that young people in particular look up to.”
